Gadget Review Notion Ink Eden UI for Adam tablet demo

Notion Ink has once again, there is no other word, shown off their Adam tablet. The custom Eden UI for Android they have developed for Adam that it is running in a video demo they have made is definitely a thing of beauty. This being a demo, there are still a lot of questions of how it will work in everyday life and I’m sure Eden will attract some and distract the others, but a user interface must not be a love it or hate it thing. Any UI can be judged by the potential it provides. At first glance Notion Ink has done alright.

This is a subjective thing for me – I still can’t get over the fact that there is too much of a body padding around the display. It doesn’t affect the Eden UI in any way however. The thing I like most about it is that you can have three app windows visible simultaneously. This is very common to have content related to each other across the applications like writing a text document and peeking up information from the browser or moving back and forth between spreadsheets and calculator. This then means app windows are tall rather than wide and this, I think, is not ideal.

There are other options of course to navigate through opened apps like jump lists, etc. and you should see them for yourself. The question that I have in my mind now is how Eden UI will work with the well-spoken Android Gingerbread or rather even what version Adam will be able to update to?
